This dress was made entirely of books. What do you think. Too much for the first day of school?

Maureen Johnson came to town to promote her new book, The Madness Underneath, she stopped by St. Mary's for a quick coffee with Upper School fans and the 7th and 8th grade got to have lunch with her. She was really impressed with the fireplace in the Weir Study and even tweeted out a picture of it.

Sharisse and Ms. Bielskis had an enthusiastic crowd for their fireside chat. Everyone was so into the conversation that we've decided to have one more fireside chat this year. Look for info after spring break.

We are happy to announce that Maureen Johnson will be here on March 4th! Middle schoolers will have a chance to meet and talk to her during lunch and upper schoolers are invited to coffee with her during ALAPP. If you don't know much about Maureen Johnson, you can read her bio here. But, probably the best thing you can do is read some of her books, like Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes or her newest series, The Shades of London. If they happen to all be checked out, you should definitely follow her on Twitter and Tumblr. If you do go to her Tumblr, you'll see that she's having a "Read Along Day Party Thing" on Sunday and is offering ebook copies of the first book in The Shades of London series, The Name of the Star, for $2.99. If that's not enough to get you ready for her visit to St.  Mary's, check out the video below or any of her the videos she's posted on her channel and you'll see that she is going to be lots of fun to have around!
